Day 1: Haldi Ceremony

The Haldi Ceremony is an important pre-wedding tradition in South Asian weddings. It is a lively and joyous occasion. Friends and family gather to bless the bride and groom and wish them a lifetime of happiness and prosperity. The Life & Lights bride, Disha, looked stunning in her yellow saree and a red veil. The groom, Zolok, looked handsome in his blue panjabi and golden prince coat.

The Haldi ceremony is typically one or two days before the wedding day. It brings good luck and wards off any evil spirits. During the ceremony, a paste made of turmeric, sandalwood, and other natural ingredients is applied to the bride and groom by their close family members. This paste is believed to have spiritual and medicinal properties. It is said to bring health, wealth, and happiness to the couple.

As the Haldi ceremony got underway, the sounds of traditional South Asian music filled the atmosphere. Friends and family members were also dancing to the beat, adding to the joyful and lively atmosphere. Throughout the ceremony, there were lots of laughter and smiles, as everyone had a blast celebrating the soon-to-be-wed couple.

The Attire

The bride, Disha, was the center of attention throughout the Haldi ceremony, and she truly shone as the brightest diamond. With her beautiful smile and her sparkling eyes, she looked truly happy. During the ceremony, I captured some amazing bridal portraits of Disha. It includes a photo of her looking through her veil and smiling, which has become one of our favorite shots.

In keeping with the traditional South Asian wedding customs, the Haldi ceremony was an evening filled with a rich and vibrant atmosphere, full of music, dance, and laughter. The couple’s close friends and family members were all there to bless them. The bride and groom looked happy and content in each other’s company.

The Haldi ceremony is an essential part of any South Asian wedding. It sets the tone for the rest of the wedding celebrations. It is a celebration of love, friendship, and family. For Disha and Zolok, the Haldi ceremony was just the start of a beautiful and unforgettable three-day wedding celebration.

Day 2: The South Asian Wedding Day

Disha and Zolok’s wedding day was a beautiful and traditional celebration of their Bengali Hindu culture. The wedding was at Bharatiya Temple, which is one of the famous Indian Wedding Venues in Michigan. The bride and groom were stunning in their formal Indian wedding attire. Disha was looking stunning in a red lehenga, which is one of the most popular South Asian Wedding Dresses. She was adorned with gold jewelry. Zolok was looking regal in a beige-golden sherwani.

The traditional Hindu wedding rituals began with the bride taking seven rounds around the groom, covering her face with betel leaves. The seven rounds symbolize the seven vows that the couple takes. After this, the couple took seven rounds around the fire, which is a witness to their union.

The atmosphere was filled with joy, love, and a sense of tradition. The wedding ceremony was a celebration of the culture and heritage of thousands of years. The couple honored their roots by staying true to their Bengali customs and traditions.

The Atmosphere

The music and dance of the subcontinent filled the air, adding to the festive atmosphere. The guests, all relatives of the bride and groom, joined in the celebrations.

As a South Asian wedding photographer, it was an honor to capture the traditional Hindu wedding. One of my favorite moments was capturing a photo of Disha looking through the betel leaves. She was smiling and shining as a bright diamond.

After the beautiful and traditional Hindu wedding ceremony, it was time to let their hair down and celebrate with friends and family. The reception was at a stunning venue called The Imperial House in Michigan, and it was the perfect end to an unforgettable three-day celebration of love.

The bride, Disha, looked stunning in a light pink and silver lehenga, while the groom, Zolok, donned a sharp formal suit. The couple was all smiles as they greeted their guests and took to the dance floor for their first dance as a married couple.
